How to add online booking to a Squarespace website

To add online booking to a Squarespace website, use a Scheduling block if you book through Acuity Scheduling, or paste any other booking tool's embed code into a Code block. Squarespace's help center says that to add JavaScript or an iframe to a code block, your site needs to be on the Core, Plus, or Advanced plan. On any plan, a "Book online" button linked to your booking page also works.

What the Book Check looks for

  1. AA visible booking pathup to 35 points
  2. BA tap-to-call link15 points
  3. CA Google Maps link10 points

Out of 100 points. The rest covers mobile setup, HTTPS, a page title and page size.

In HelpWin's Toledo study, 55 of 105 established Squarespace sites that loaded (52%) showed no booking path on the homepage (full study).

Option A: a Scheduling block (Acuity)

Squarespace's Scheduling block shows an Acuity Scheduling booking page on your site. Squarespace says you need an Acuity subscription to use it, either attached to your Squarespace site or standalone, and that the legacy free Acuity plan does not support embedded schedulers.

  1. Edit the page and click Add block or +, then click Scheduling.
  2. Click the pencil icon to open the block editor and choose which scheduler to show.
  3. With a standalone Acuity account, copy the link beneath General Scheduling Page in Acuity, choose Custom Link in the block's drop-down menu, and paste it into Custom Scheduling Page Link.
  4. Click Save, then publish.

Option B: any booking widget in a Code block

Use this for a booking tool other than Acuity. Your provider gives you an embed code, usually a script tag plus a div, or an iframe.

  1. Edit the page (the homepage, or a Book page linked from it) and click Add block or +, then choose Code.
  2. Click the pencil icon and paste the code. Leave the mode on HTML.
  3. Make sure Display Source is off. When it is on, Squarespace shows the code as text instead of running it.
  4. Save, then check the page while logged out or in Squarespace's Safe Mode preview: Squarespace notes that code may not appear while you are logged in.

The Squarespace catches, from its help page: code blocks have a 400 KB limit; code may not render on an index page or when Ajax loading is on; and Squarespace support will not help add or troubleshoot custom code, so widget problems go to your booking provider.

Add a button near the top of the homepage labeled "Book online" and link it to your provider's booking page. It works on every plan, it does not depend on scripts running, and it is the booking path the Book Check and most crawlers can always see.

After you install

HelpWin's Book Button is one booking widget built for this kind of install, launching soon. Any tool that puts a visible booking path on your homepage closes the same gap.

HelpWin publishes this guide and sells online booking tools for local businesses, including the upcoming Book Button. We wrote it to be useful whether or not you ever use them. Published 2026-10-24, updated 2026-10-24, by HelpWin.
