In HelpWin's Toledo study, 70 of 116 established Wix sites that loaded (60%) showed no booking path on the homepage (full study). Wix supports both routes below, so this is a setup gap, not a platform limit.
Option A: Wix Bookings (stays inside Wix)
Wix Bookings is Wix's own booking app. You add it from the Wix App Market, create your services (name, length, price, staff, location) in the dashboard, and place a service list or booking page on the site. Per Wix: "You can add Wix Bookings to your site for free, but you must upgrade your site to accept bookings." Check the current plan requirements on the Wix help page before you build around it.
Option B: paste a third-party booking widget
Use this if your booking tool lives outside Wix (a scheduling app or a field-service app) and the provider's own instructions tell Wix users to use an Embed HTML element. HelpWin's Book Button is not installed this way; see its own section below. Your provider gives you an embed code: a short block of HTML, often a script tag plus a div, or an iframe. The steps from Wix's help center:
- Open your site in the Wix Editor.
- Click Add Elements on the left side of the editor.
- Click Embed Code, then Popular Embeds.
- Choose Embed HTML (for a code snippet). Choose Embed a site instead if your provider gave you a booking page address rather than code.
- Click the new element on the page, click Enter Code, paste the snippet, and click Apply.
- Publish, then open the live site on your phone and make a test booking.
Some widgets do not work inside Embed HTML, because Wix runs that element in a frame on a Wix address rather than on your own domain. Check your vendor's Wix instructions before you rely on it.
These steps are for the Wix Editor. Wix help has separate articles for its other editors (Editor X and Wix Harmony, for example) with different menu names, so if the names above do not match your screen, search Wix help for your editor plus "embed".
The catches Wix documents
- HTTPS only. Wix states that only HTTPS codes and URLs are displayed. If your provider's code starts with http:, ask for the https version.
- Embeds are iframes and are not responsive. Wix recommends replacing fixed pixel sizes in the code with a width and height of a hundred percent so the widget is not cropped. Check the page on a phone after publishing.
- Some pages refuse to be embedded. If a provider's booking page blocks embedding, Wix cannot override it. Link to the page with a button instead.
- Wix will not support third-party code. Problems with the widget go to your booking provider.
Option C: just link to your booking page
If the embed fights you, add a button labeled "Book online" near the top of the homepage and link it to your provider's booking page. A plain link is the most robust booking path there is, and it is what the Book Check and most crawlers can see without running scripts.
HelpWin Book Button on Wix
Do not paste the Book Button into an Embed HTML or Embed a Widget element. Wix serves that element inside a frame from its own file host (an address on filesusr.com), so the booking request does not come from your domain and the Book Button rejects it. Use one of these two routes instead, in this order:
- Recommended, works on every Wix plan: a Wix Button. Add a Button element near the top of the homepage, label it "Book online", and link it to your hosted HelpWin booking page (https://helpwin.net/book/your-business; the exact link is in your welcome email). Publish and test it on your phone.
- Site-wide: Custom Code. In the dashboard go to Settings, then Custom Code under Development & integrations, and click Add Custom Code. Paste the one-line Book Button script, apply it to all pages, and choose Body - end as the placement. Wix requires the site to be published with a connected domain for this.
Site-wide widgets from other providers (floating Book buttons)
Some providers give you a script that adds a floating button to every page. In Wix that goes in the dashboard under Settings, then Development & integrations, then Custom Code: paste the code, choose all pages, choose where it loads, and apply. Wix notes the site must be published with a connected domain, and that changing the domain deletes your code snippets.
After you install
- Put the booking link on the homepage, not only on a Services page.
- Add the same booking address to your Google Business Profile.
- Re-run the free Book Check. If your widget loads only through JavaScript, add a plain "Book online" link as well so the check, and any assistant that reads raw HTML, can find it.
HelpWin's Book Button, launching soon, installs on Wix through a linked Button or Custom Code, as described above. Any tool that puts a visible booking path on your homepage closes the same gap.
